Ingredients for Chicken Liver and Mushroom Pate

  • 8.8 oz (250g) chicken liver
  • 8.8 oz (250g) mushrooms
  • 1 medium grated carrot
  • 1 medium white onion
  • 2-3 Tbsp avocado oil or ghee
  • ½ tsp sweet paprika
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Cooking Process

  1. Prep Your Ingredients:
    • Wash and cut the chicken liver into small pieces.
    • Wash and slice the mushrooms.
    • Chop the onion and grate the carrot.
  2. Sauté Mushrooms, Onion, and Carrot:
    • Heat a frying pan. Fry the sliced mushrooms on a dry pan with salt and pepper for about 5 minutes. Set them aside.
    • In the same pan, add 1-2 tablespoons of oil. Sauté the chopped onion and grated carrot for 7 minutes until they become soft and translucent. If needed, you can add a splash of water during sautéing. Set aside.
  3. Cook the Chicken Liver:
    • Wipe the pan with a kitchen towel. Add 1 tablespoon of oil.
    • Fry the chicken liver with salt and pepper for a few minutes over medium heat. After 4 minutes, add a couple of tablespoons of water.
    • Cook the liver for another 5 minutes with a lid on. The total cooking time can be between 10-15 minutes.
  4. Blend Everything Together:
    • In a food processor, combine the cooked liver, sautéed mushrooms, onion, carrot, and spices.
    • Add salt and pepper according to your taste.
    • Process everything until smooth.
  5. Serve Chilled:
    • Chill the blended mixture.
    • Serve the Chicken Liver and Mushroom Pate chilled.
