Ingredients for Spinach with Sesame Oil
10 oz (300 g) baby spinach
1 clove of garlic
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame seeds
1/2 Tbsp toasted sesame oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Cooking Instructions
Sauté spinach on a dry pan for 3-5 minutes. Add a little water as needed.
Drain and squeeze the cooked spinach. Mix with soy sauce, pressed garlic, and sesame oil. Add salt if needed and a pinch of black pepper.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve!
Useful Tips
– I usually use baby spinach for this recipe. Saute the spinach in a dry pan. Alternatively, you can blanch the spinach in boiling water until just wilted.
You have to drain and squeeze the cooked spinach. But do not over-squeeze it. Otherwise, it will be too dry. Optionally you can cut the cooked and squeezed spinach with kitchen scissors.
– Use as much garlic as you prefer. Some people love the garlicky taste. My husband is not garlic-fun, so I only use 1 clove.
– If you are gluten-free, use Tamari soy sauce.
– In terms of sesame oil, make sure you use toasted sesame oil. It has a rich and aromatic flavor.
