Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 1.1 lb broccoli 500 g
  • 1 Tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tsp soy sauce you can use low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds for garnish
  • 1 thinly sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  • Rinse the broccoli florets under cold water and drain them thoroughly. Cut into bite-sized florets.
  • Fill a large pot with about 1-2 inches of water and bring it to a boil over high heat. Place a steamer basket in the pot and add the broccoli florets to the basket. Cover the pot with a lid and steam the broccoli for about 5-7 minutes, or until it's bright green and tender but still slightly crisp. Avoid overcooking as it can make the broccoli mushy.
  • Once the broccoli is cooked, carefully remove it from the steamer basket and transfer it to a large bowl to cool down.
  • In a small bowl, combine the toasted sesame oil, soy sauce, and garlic powder. Pour the prepared sauce over the cooled broccoli florets in the bowl. Gently toss the broccoli with the sauce until each floret is evenly coated, and transfer to a serving dish.
  • Sprinkle some sesame seeds and thinly sliced green onions on top for added flavor and presentation.
  • Enjoy!
