As we blend these four ingredients into a golden paste, we’re not merely creating a beverage; we’re crafting a tonic that resonates with centuries of herbal wisdom.
1/4cupfresh curcuma root (peeled and chopped)optional
1cupfresh lemon juice (from about 4-5 lemons), strainedor 2-3 whole lemons
1/2cupraw honey
Instructions
Peel the ginger and curcuma root using a spoon or a peeler, removing the outer layer. Chop them into small pieces.
Squeeze lemons to obtain 1 cup of fresh lemon juice. Strain the juice to remove seeds and pulp. If you are using whole lemons, cut 2-3 lemons into pieces, remove seeds.
In a food processor, combine the chopped ginger, curcuma root (if using), fresh lemon juice, and raw honey.
Blend the ingredients until they form a smooth, golden paste. This may take a few minutes to ensure all ingredients are well incorporated.
Transfer the golden elixir into an airtight glass jar. To consume, add 1-2 teaspoons of the elixir to a cup of hot water or tea.
Enjoy your Golden Elixir!
Notes
I usually use whole lemons instead of juice. Wash your lemons very well. Use the Eco-Friendly Fruit & Vegetable Wash. Check the recipe here.
Store the glass jar of Golden Elixir in the refrigerator.
Keep the glass jar away from direct sunlight. Sunlight can degrade the active compounds in the ingredients, reducing their potency over time.
Always use clean, dry spoons or utensils when scooping out the elixir. Avoid introducing moisture or contaminants, as they can spoil the elixir or reduce its shelf life.
Label the jar with the date of preparation. This helps you keep track of its freshness. As a general rule, try to consume the elixir within 2-3 weeks for optimal taste and potency.
If you want to extend the elixir’s shelf life further, you can freeze it in ice cube trays. Once frozen, transfer the cubes into a freezer-safe container. When needed, mix one cube with hot water or tea.
